Siemens Step 7 V5.X "Classic" is a powerful integrated software solution for automation, and includes the programming environment for Siemens S7-300 and S7-400 programmable logic controllers (PLCs). This software provides unique and powerful programming tools with multiple benefits including: creation of re-useable logic, a structured program architecture, and single project integration of multiple automation devices.

Class Overview

This course is geared towards the students who will be using Siemens Step 7 V5.X for the first time or for those looking to refresh those skills necessary to troubleshoot the S7 series PLC's.

The Step 7 Maintenance Training course is divided between 60 percent lecture material and 40 percent hands-on practical application. The first part of the course covers the hardware and networking, followed by CPU organization. The course then transitions to software. A simple programming exercise is used to demonstrate PLC operation, as well as the steps required to interact with the PLC using the Simatic Manager software. The labs are geared towards troubleshooting the software. The course will cover the tools available in the software to navigate the PLC program. The labs are designed to reinforce the material covered in the class. The training format is largely interactive, and seeks to engage students as well as answer their application specific questions. Instructors are also available to discuss detailed application questions during periodic training breaks and at the close of each session.

At the conclusion of the course students will leave with a working knowledge of Siemens Step 7 “Classic” software. At the conclusion of the class, attendees are given electronic copies of all training slides and labs and a Certificate of Completion. Students also have the opportunity to meet their local PFT support personnel, and are provided with contact information for post-training technical support from both PFT and Siemens.

Certified Instructors

Each class is led by a Certified Siemens Technology Specialist for Factory Automation. Our PFT factory certified specialists have extensive engineering experience, and have demonstrated their knowledge of Siemens products and technologies through comprehensive hands-on and written testing. Each trainer is certified to possess the proven ability to design and implement automation solutions while utilizing Siemens’ best practices.
